I was thrilled to met up with Carl and Fiona for a pre wedding chat in the Doubletree by Hilton in Greenwich, London. They had travelled down from Newcastle for a food tasting at the hotel and we agreed to meet up before their big day to discuss the details and to see exactly what they wanted from their wedding photos.
They chose the Doubletree by Hilton for a variety of reasons such as it’s proximity to Greenwich and high standard of service. The hotel is located in The Royal Borough of Greenwich. To mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II, Greenwich became a Royal Borough on 3 February 2012, due in part to its historic links with the Royal Family, and to its UNESCO World Heritage Site status as home of the Prime Meridian.
Fiona and Carl had hired a boat to take their guests for a trip along the Thames before the Wedding breakfast so their venue needed to be within walking distance from the river.
It was a small intimate wedding with only Fiona and Carl’s nearest and dearest attending. Their 2 children had a great time running around the hotel and got lots of attention from guests and staff alike.
The ceremony was held in the stylish basement of the hotel and was a wonderful affair. After that we all went outside to grab so champagne and fresh air and start on the photos. Shortly after that the wedding party ventured into Greenwich. The newlyweds were treated like celebrities by lots of members of public asking to take their photo which was a lot of fun.
Before boarding the riverboat we took a quick diversion into the Old Royal Naval College where we managed to sneak some photos and then headed onto the riverboat for a trip along the Thames where we got to enjoy (and photograph) many of the iconic buildings that adorn the river including the Houses of Parliament, London Bridge and the London Eye to name but a few.
When the cruise had concluded we all went back to the hotel for the wedding breakfast and the happy couple listened to some hilarious speeches and danced their way into the night!
